MacNeil Homes Breaks Ground on Model Home in Highgate
April 20, 2006
WEDDINGTON, N.C. – Highgate’s newest builder, MacNeil Homes, recently broke ground on a 5,800 square foot model home, prominently located near the entrance. Following the popular “Old World” style, the home plans call for two copper turrets, a dramatic 2 –story entrance flanked by a curved staircase complete with “oil-rubbed copper” pickets, according to company Chief Executive, Anita MacNeil.
Highgate, the site of 2003 HomeArama, plans approximately 230 homes. Most homes are priced in excess of $1 million and are built by area custom builders. Since 2001, the neighborhood has exceeded developer expectations, according to Harrington/Dowd executives, who also indicated that 26 homes closed in 2005. The local Multiple Listing Service indicates that 7 homes went under contract the first quarter of this year.
MacNeil Homes plans construction of at least 18 homes over the next two or three years in Highgate. “Our management team felt Highgate would be an excellent opportunity to showcase our luxury home portfolio,” says MacNeil. The model home is scheduled for completion in October with a grand opening planned in early November.
